Cruising Halong Bay has long been one of the top things to do when visiting Vietnam. And now tourists have a new way to experience the dazzling natural attraction. By helicopter.
The first helicopter sightseeing flights over the scenic Halong Bay area have been launched by the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, a subsidiary of state-owned helicopter operator Vietnam Helicopter Corporation. Flights depart from and arriving at Tuan Chau island, which is about 170-kilometers from Hanoi. Three different routing options are offered, with prices ranging between $125 and $396 per person, corresponding to the flight time are 12 minutes, 25 minutes and 40 minutes. The cheapest journey lasts for 12 minutes, hovers over six tourist sites including Thien Cung cave, Titop island and Bai Tu Long Bay, while the most expensive experience lasts for 40 minutes with views of 17 different sites along Halong Bay.
Two Bell 505 helicopters served in this service can seat three travelers per flight. They’re fitted with forward-facing seats and large windows, offering great views of Halong Bay.
However, this is not the only sightseeing flight operation in Halong. Scenic flights over the bay can be made by seaplane as well. The 25-minute tour takes off and lands from the water at Tuan Chau Island Marina.
